About

Hi, I’m Andre Chandra Putra, and I built Scripture.

For a long time I wanted to read the Bible, but I rarely did. I’d open it with good intentions, read a few verses, and get lost. I didn’t always know who was speaking, what was going on, or why a passage mattered. Without that context it was easy to feel confused and close it again.

At the same time, I had no trouble scrolling on my phone for an hour. The habit was already there. It just wasn’t pointed at anything that fed me.

So I built what I needed: something as easy to open as a feed, that puts Scripture in front of you right away, and that helps you understand what you’re reading when it doesn’t make sense yet. If you’ve struggled to read the Bible too, I hope it helps you the way it’s helping me.

What it’s for

Scripture turns the habit of scrolling into a habit of reading Scripture. Open it and you’re reading the Bible straight away, one passage at a time, with help close at hand when something is hard to follow.

No likes. No followers. No endless notifications. Each passage leads into its chapter, and the feed ends instead of running forever.

How to use it

  1. Swipe through passages

Each card is a short passage chosen to stand on its own. Swipe up (or press the down arrow) for the next one. The feed ends after a while, on purpose.

  2. Understand what you’re reading

Tap the lightbulb for plain-language notes: what’s happening around the passage, what it means, and a quick summary of the chapter and the book.

  3. Read the whole chapter

Every passage is a doorway. “Read” opens the full chapter with your passage highlighted, plus a short summary of the chapter at the top.

  4. Switch Bible versions and language

Tap the version button on any passage (it says WEB at first) to read in another translation. Choosing an Indonesian version switches the whole app to Indonesian.

  5. Save what stays with you

Bookmark a passage to come back to it later. Saved passages live on this device.

  6. Search and browse

Look up a word, a phrase, or a reference like “John 3:16”, or browse all 66 books with a summary of every chapter.

  7. Put it on your home screen

Add Scripture to your phone so it opens full screen, like an app. Here’s how, for iPhone and Android.

How the feed works

There’s no algorithm studying you. The feed is 118 passages from across the Bible, each picked by hand because it makes sense on its own.

Every time you open it, they’re shuffled into a new order, and passages you haven’t read yet come first. Passages that follow on from each other stay together, and it tries not to show the same book twice in a row.

Will I see the same passage again?

Not in one sitting: each feed shows every passage once, offers a pause about every 10, and then ends. Across visits, nothing repeats until you’ve read all 118. After that they come back in a new order, and the end of the feed tells you when that happens.

It doesn’t learn what keeps you scrolling, and what it remembers about your reading stays on this device.

Bible versions

The version button on each passage (it shows WEB at first) tells you which translation you’re reading. Tap it to switch. These versions can be read right here:

WEB
World English BibleModern, faithful English. An update of the 1901 American Standard Version.
NIV
New International VersionThe most widely read modern English Bible. Accurate and easy to follow.
NIrV
New International Reader’s VersionThe NIV in shorter sentences and simpler words. Good for new readers and children.
BSB
Berean Standard BibleClear, current English. Reads much like the NIV or ESV.
KJV
King James VersionThe classic 1611 English Bible (1769 edition), with its familiar older wording.
AYT

TSI

Popular versions like ESV, NLT, NKJV (English) and TB, TB2 (Indonesian) are copyrighted, so they can’t be copied here. The version menu opens the same passage in them on YouVersion (bible.com) instead.

About the notes

The passage notes, chapter summaries and book introductions are written to help you follow the text: who is speaking, what is happening, and what it meant to the first readers. They aim to reflect what Christians broadly agree on. They are a starting point, not the final word, so read the whole chapter and talk it over with your church and people you trust.

Your saved passages, reading history and version choice stay on your device. There are no accounts. The only cookie remembers your language. To learn what helps, the site uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to count anonymous visits and a few rough reading stats, like how long the feed is read and whether notes are opened. They use no cookies, can’t tell who you are, and never see what you’ve saved. When you read the NIV, NIrV or TSI, API.Bible (the service that provides them) counts the view for the publisher, using a random ID stored on this device.
